It's no secret that I like costumes. I've got a full-fledged renaissance costume for Hallowe'en (which alternates with a pleather outfit, depending on my mood). I've got a corset, made by hand when I should have been working on my undergraduate thesis. I enjoy dressing as a semi-modern period piece from time to time, showing up for class as a 1940s or 1930s fashion plate. And now I have an official outlet!
I'm currently putting the finishing touches on this dress (except in pink and navy), and then will be heading off to Dickens on the Strand in Galveston. See you Monday! (By which time I may actually have figured out how to put my photos on the computer, so treats may be in store!)
when are you going to be at Dickens on the Strand? I go to school here in Galveston now...

What are you at? A&M?
I should be there Saturday, with my mother and the Texas Roommate (and perhaps the Kid Brother).

That picture and I apparently have vastly different opinions of what constitutes "simplicity" :)

Yes; I'm surprised that Simplicity's running that series (copied from actual civil war era clothing patterns), rather than, say, Butterick (the company that started making patterns at that period) or someone else that doesn't claim to be easy!

Hmm, well, this teaches me not to check in on this blog over the weekend. You gotta give your fans more notice when you're gonna be nearby! How can we stalk you otherwise?! :)

Don't worry; I'll be back in maybe two weeks for the season :)
