What an enjoyable evening.
ABC: basic presentation of what went down, quotes from Rather, quotes from the White House. Nothing much of interest.
CBS: apology, much too late, but I'm glad they finally got around to it. More to come, I'm sure. And I was pleasantly surprised by their "Fallen Heroes" coverage, which I've never seen before. That's the right way to pay tribute to servicemen killed in action: call them heroes, and emphasize their belief that the soldiers are doing a good job and a needed job and trying to make the world a better place.
NBC: ha! same coverage as ABC, but then a nice long string of questions basically pointing out, "how could CBS be so dumb and act so contrary to basic journalistic practices, when the problems with the documents were obvious, even to guys in their pyjamas, pretty immediately; and is there something more to the story than CBS being innocent and naive?"
