The Hindu paid attention to Bobby Jindal this time around, but found time in two paragraphs to point out that he's a convert to Christianity. But this is the Hindu, a generally secular newspaper. You have to head over to Hindu Unity and read their message boards for the real vitriol. But I haven't seen the "Jindal's a traitor to Hinduism and shouldn't be allowed to represent the Indian community in America" bile that was around in "India Abroad" and other media last time. I can't get myself to believe that intolerance of conversion away from Hinduism (the most open and tolerant of religions) has changed so much so shortly, so I'd have to guess that either 1) they gave up, 2) they think that a governor is more important (likely the case), or 3) like me, they didn't remember he was running.
As for me, I wish him all the best!
